Bonsall West Elementary School

On November 4th, the United States Marine Corps and Bonsall West Elementary School officially began an important partnership through the Marine Corps’ Adopt-a-School program. Over a dozen marines from the Headquarters and Support Battalion visited the Bonsall West campus and met with students. Captain Bednar, Major Barbato, and our principal, Mr. Pellegrino, have been working together over the past few weeks planning important events for our school.

The Marines will be helping us do different things such as building a school fitness course and creating a school sign on our hill. We will also work on building our six character traits by learning attributes practiced by the Marines. Our battalion will also be teaching us real world relevance of math and its’ use in the Marine Corps.

Bonsall West’s 3rd-5th grade students visited Camp Pendleton on November 9th and observed the USMC birthday pageant. The event highlighted key battles in our nation’s history and provided a glimpse into the evolution of the United States Marines.

Our partnership with the Headquarters and Support (HQSP) Battalion will be a great benefit to our school. We are looking forward to learning a lot and anticipate their visits throughout the school year.
