Braendel and Rudisell address GANAS and ANGELS for Fallbrook Rotary

FALLBROOK – Speakers at a recent Rotary Club of Fallbrook weekly meeting included Pat Braendel, known for forming the Fallbrook Citizens’ Crime Prevention Committee, whose subject was the GANAS (Guide, Advise, Nurture and Support) Mentoring Program that works with keeping at-risk children out of gangs in economically challenged neighborhoods.

Joining her was Rudi Rudisell, a 16 year law enforcement gang expert, who addressed ANGELS (Against Neighborhood Gangs Empowering Local Schools). Rudisell let the audience know that kids between the ages of12 and 14, and as young as eight years of age, are the most susceptible to being influenced to go into a gang and this peer pressure is ever present. The most likely recruiting time is after school. Rudisell said the goal is to diminish and impact the ability to recruit, and the brutal initiations through prevention, intervention and enforcement.
