Supervisors approve contract with County's incoming chief administrative officer for $259,000/year; to be $289,000 by 2014

SAN DIEGO (Wire Service) - The San Diego County Board of Supervisors today, Oct. 9 approved an employment contract with the county's incoming chief administrative officer.

Under terms of the deal, which are posted on the county's website, Helen N. Robbins-Meyer, now the assistant chief administrative officer, will be paid $259,000 annually when she succeeds current CAO Walt Ekard on Dec. 1.

The contract bumps her salary to $274,000 on Dec. 1, 2013, and $289,000 on Dec. 1, 2014. It was passed without comment by the supervisors.

Robbins-Meyer of Poway was appointed as the county's top staffer in August, shortly after Ekard announced his decision to step down. He has led the county government since 1999.

Robbins-Meyer has worked for the county since 1997.
