Oil filter exchange offered

FALLBROOK – The County of San Diego Department of Public Works is partnering with AutoZone to host an oil filter exchange event for residents from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 20 at the AutoZone store located at 1081 S Mission Ave. in Fallbrook. Residents who bring in a used oil filter for recycling will receive a new filter at no cost.

The program is made possible with funding from the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery, known as CalRecycle. According to CalRecycle, each used oil filter has an average of 10 fluid ounces of motor oil inside, even after being drained for 24 hours. Free filter offer only valid at participating stores during the dates and times listed, one free oil filter per person, per event. Max of five gallons of motor oil per person, per day accepted.
