Boys & Girls Clubs kicks off annual fundraising campaign

FALLBROOK – Boys & Girls Clubs of North County kicked off its annual fundraiser, Great Futures Campaign (formally known as Step up to the Plate Campaign) on Sept. 29. The campaign is held to raise funds for the clubs’ after school programs and services for school-aged youth living in Fallbrook, Bonsall, Pala and Rainbow areas. Scheduled to run through Jan. 31, 2013, the campaign seeks donations primarily from individuals and local businesses.

With the goal being to raise $100,000 for the club’s annual operating budget, campaign chair Louise Small said, “We are proud to announce that 100 percent of our board and even staff have already made an impact towards this goal by making a contribution. The club’s leadership and staff understand the impact we make and they know it is an investment to our great town. All we need now is the rest of our community to show their support, and we will be able to reach, maybe even exceed, our goal.”

Last year the clubs served 1,500 local youth.

“Funds raised will help us keep our membership to an ultimate low of $30 a year per child,” said Small.

New officers recently installed on the organization’s board include Jack Rockwell, president; Greg Munro, first vice president; John Martinez, second vice president; Nanette Poorman, secretary; and Jim Short, treasurer. New board members include Dale Mitchell, Dannai Mungo and Siegrid Stillman.
