Supervisor Horn announces milestone in Prosperity on Purpose endeavor

In a communication from San Diego County Supervisor Bill Horn's office today, October 11, the Prosperity on Purpose program is celebrating a tangible and exciting milestone.

"A series of detailed maps were unveiled today at the POP Regional Economic Kick-Off meeting hosted by the San Diego North Economic Development Council at Cal State San Marcos. The virtual maps illustrate how North County can utilize its assets and strengths to drive future economic success for the region.

North County has natural resources, land, transportation infrastructure, educational institutions and entertainment venues that aren’t reaching their revenue potential. The new comprehensive maps stitch together the general plans for Escondido, San Marcos, Vista, Oceanside and Carlsbad and offer a simplified look at North County and its economic growth potential. Target areas for improvement can be easily identified. The maps are the first of their kind.

POP has also secured EDA approval for their Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy, or CEDS. This means POP has all of the information and documentation required to begin applying for federal funding. This is the first CEDS for North County and another step toward building a strong North County where people want to work, learn, live and play.
