Wolfgram to talk about USS Midway history

FALLBROOK – As part of the lecture series, Fallbrook Library is hosting a program on the USS Midway history presented by Robert Wolfgram, Master Chief, USN (Ret) and USS Midway docent at 6 p.m. on Nov. 8.

The program will explore a floating city at sea and relive 47 years of world history aboard the longest-serving Navy aircraft carrier of the 20th century. Commissioned a week after the end of World War II, the USS Midway embarked on an unprecedented odyssey that set new standards in naval aviation. More than 225,000 Americans took part in the odyssey that ended after Midway served as the Persian Gulf flagship in Desert Storm.

The USS Midway was the longest serving U.S. Navy carrier of the 20th century and largest ship in the world from 1945 to 1955. Wolfgram, one of the 800+ volunteers aboard the USS Midway, will talk and show slides in what he calls “Live the Adventure, Honor the Legend!”
