Residents reminded to set their clocks back

Residents are reminded to set their clocks back from daylight saving time.

California is among 47 other states that will ''fall back'' one hour at 2 a.m. Sunday when daylight-saving time ends and the states resumes Pacific Standard Time.

In addition, the Riverside County Fire Department recommends that the batteries for smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and emergency flashlights be replaced.

Changing the batteries should also include checking that the device has not passed an expiration date and to clear dust from slots or sensors, the fire department recommends.

Travelers heading east should know that Arizona now effectively moves one hour earlier than California, as most of the Grand Canyon State will not adjust clocks tonight. Hawaii, in contrast, moves to two hours later in the winter months, instead of three.
