Boys & Girls Clubs of North County to hold groundbreaking celebration for upgrades

FALLBROOK – Boys & Girls Clubs of North County will break ground for a new games room at 5 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Ingold Unit, 445 East Ivy Street, in Fallbrook. The upgrades are part of the 2007 capital campaign project that provided the club’s most recent renovations of the swimming pool, arts and crafts room, music room, administration building, parking lot, grass area and learning center. After receiving the Neighborhood Reinvestment Grant provided by the office of Supervisor Bill Horn, the club’s administration, board, and local supporters decided to fulfill the need for a more safe and modern games room in addition to the other recent changes.

“We are excited to reach this milestone because the Boys & Girls Clubs of North County is a proven solution to help answer many of the community’s challenges” said Lisa Ware, director of operations. “A renovated games room is a strong need of ours as we focus on the safety of our children. We hope a new modern feeling and look will also encourage children to join the club and become active, regular members.”

The goal is for the construction project to begin Nov. 19 and end around the beginning of the year. Prava Construction has developed a plan to knock out the wall that separates the games room and the video room to make it more open for supervision. They plan on replacing all the walls and floors, installing new lighting and installing a heating and air unit which doesn’t currently exist. Additional storage and cubbies for the member’s belongings will be built as well.

The groundbreaking celebration will also introduce the club’s newly appointed CPO, Allison Barclay. She will be available for a meet and greet for those community members that want to get to know her. Also, a special presentation will acknowledge a dear supporter, Mr. Donald S. Burns.

The Boys & Girls Club’s mission is to “enable all young people, especially those who need them most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.”
