Angel Society's philanthropic giving to benefit children, adults, nature and the arts

FALLBROOK – A total of $18,825 in donations to schools and their various programs for children, adult and senior adult services, non-profit nature organizations, as well as to the arts, was approved by the board of directors of the Angel Society of Fallbrook at its October/November meeting.

Donations of $5,000 each were awarded to The Foundation for Senior Care towards a new CareVan that will be fully equipped to handle wheelchairs, so needed to help local disabled people and seniors who are unable to drive keep medical appointments, etc .; and to the Fallbrook Arts Inc. as a donation towards their capital campaign to aid in the growth and management of Fallbrook’s art community.

A total of $3,000 was awarded to Save Our Forest, a division of the Fallbrook Land Conservancy. Despite many volunteers there are areas too steep for volunteers to maintain and these funds will be utilized to cover its high costs.

The Women’s Resource Center, which wishes to provide a Spirit of Giving holiday event where at least 100 families displaced by domestic violence are expected to attend, was awarded $1,500 to help cover the costs.

Fallbrook Garden Club was awarded $1,000 to purchase a 10-ft square tool shed for the gardening project with students of La Paloma Elementary School.

La Paloma Science Enrichment club (K-6) was awarded $800 towards their 24-week science program, culminating in competing in a Science Field Day.

FHS Ivy High School – was awarded $750 to help cover costs for their annual Christmas and Thanksgiving holiday meals for needy students.

John Boyle of Boy Scout Troop 739 awarded $600 to help with his Eagle Scout Project.

Bonsall West Elementary School was awarded $500 to help with costs for 85 first graders, some from military families, for a field trip to Carlsbad Flower Fields.

FHS ROP Child Care Program was awarded $375 to help with the fees needed for students 18 years or older to volunteer in Child Care and Head Start programs.

La Paloma Elementary’s Accelerated Reading Program was awarded $300 for new books to be given out as reward for those earning points in the program.
