Potter band's Winter Concert a fundraiser for competition

FALLBROOK – Potter Junior High School’s Advanced Band and Glee Club are offering a free Winter Concert on Thursday, Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m. at Potter. The sale of refreshments during intermission will serve as a fundraiser for the two groups which will compete in the upcoming Magic Music Festival at Disneyland.

They are preparing three festival music pieces to perform for the professional judges at the competition after which the students will be able to spend the rest of the day in the Disneyland park.

The cost of the trip is $106 per student. With 80 students in the advanced band and glee club, about $8,000 in funds will be needed.

Recently, the Dorothy Staples Foundation of Fallbrook agreed to match the fundraising effort dollar for dollar, up to $4,000.

The Potter groups are continuing their fundraising activities; to date they have raised $3,000.

The Winter Concert will take place in the auditorium at Potter Jr. High School, 1743 Reche Road.
