Families invited to free Christmas event

FALLBROOK – The Fallbrook Historical Society is decorating all their buildings in preparation for their “Old Fashioned Christmas” Open House on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Historical Society Museum grounds, 1730 Hill Street, (Rocky Crest Road and Hill Street).

Volunteers are decking out the Pittinger House, the Museum, the Ford Room, the Rock and Mineral Room, and the Barn with festive decorations for the Christmas event.

Also participating in the decorating and/or helping out on the day of the event will be the Reche School, the Rainbow Girls, the Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts, the Monserate Chapter of the Daughters of the Revolution, and several members of the Live Oak Chapter of the Questers.

The Open House will feature an arts and crafts area, directed by Marilyn Wertz and Judy Igoe, to provide children with the opportunity to string red and green macaroni for bracelets or necklaces and create an ornament of their own to take home. Christmas music will be performed by the Madrigals and small singing groups from Fallbrook High School.

An official “tree lighting” will take place at 12:30 p.m. and Santa will greet visitors and distribute candy canes to the children from 1 to 3 p.m. Refreshments will also be served.
