Nov. 17 was a great day for Fallbrook Food Pantry

The day was overcast, but the mood was energetic and purposeful. A crowd of approximately 175 runners and walkers appeared at the Fallbrook Food Pantry for the 7th annual 5K Thanksgiving Walk/Run to Feed the Hungry.

There was music and visiting, making new friends and sharing stories, while preparations were made to begin the walk.

Pastor Brad Resare of the Fallbrook United Methodist Church said a prayer for God’s blessing and the run/walk began.

Friends from Sabra, the dip company in Vista, again supported the event with financial donations and walkers. Fallbrook’s Honorary Mayor Leo Romero, as well as Miss Fallbrook and one of her princesses, were there along with a Zumba group from Potter Junior High.

Girls and ladies from National Charity League helped collect donations and hand out t-shirts.

The Food Pantry is grateful to event sponsors, including the United Methodist Church, Dr. Stewart of Fallbrook Village Dental and Brandon Street Mini Storage.

So far, the food pantry has received a total of $7,556 for the continued work of providing nutritious food to those in need in this community through this fundraiser.

Thank you to all who came and walked or ran, the Village News for the great pictures, and all those who contributed financially. It was indeed a great day for the Fallbrook Food Pantry!
