Carlsbad man killed on motorcycle after crossing over center line, colliding with truck on Sandia Creek Drive in DeLuz area

FALLBROOK (Wire Service) - A 40-year-old motorcycle rider was killed when he drove over the double-yellow line north of Fallbrook and collided with an oncoming pickup truck, authorities said.

Jason F. Hunzinger of Carlsbad was riding his motorcycle north on Sandia Creek Drive, north of Rock Mountain Drive shortly after 1 p.m. Friday, December 21, when he rounded a bend on the two-lane road, crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a Ford F-150 truck, the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office reported.

Hunzinger was thrown from the motorcycle and into the roadway. He was wearing a helmet, according to the Medical Examiner's Office.

A fellow motorcycle rider called for help. Paramedics started CPR, but Hunzinger died at the scene from a blunt force head injury, the Medical Examiner's Office said.
