CHP arrests 23 suspected drunken drivers from 6 p.m. Friday night, Dec. 28 to 6 a.m. Sat., Dec. 29 in S.D. County

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - California Highway Patrol officers in San Diego County arrested 23 suspected drunken drivers from Friday, Dec. 28 at 6:01 p.m. to 6 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 29, one fewer than the tally for the same pre-New Year's period last year.

One vehicle occupant was killed during the reporting period by law enforcement agencies throughout San Diego County, the same number as during the first day-and-a half of the reporting period last year. Fatalities are for all law enforcement agencies.

CHP officers throughout the state arrested 334 suspected drunken drivers during the reporting period, 104 less than the same time period last year, according to the CHP.

Statewide, four traffic fatalities occurred during this year's reporting period. Law enforcement agencies reported two fatalities during the same period in 2011-12.

The CHP investigates all crashes on freeways, and on all roads in unincorporated areas.
