DAR decorates Pittenger House for holidays

FALLBROOK – Monserate Chapter DAR spent a December afternoon decorating the historic Pittenger House in Fallbrook with old-fashioned touches.

The Christmas tree was trimmed with cranberry and popcorn strands and homemade ornaments were hung. Branches of holly were strung on porch railings and the doors were adorned with handmade wreaths.

In March 2012, Monserate Chapter dedicated a historical marker at the Pittenger House. They worked closely with the Fallbrook Historical Society and members of Monserate Chapter have taken a special interest in the welfare of the house which was once owned and occupied by Reverend William Pittenger, a Civil War hero and recipient of the Medal of Honor.

For visiting hours, contact the Fallbrook Historical Society at (760) 723-4125. For information concerning Monserate Chapter DAR, contact Carol Anderson at (951) 302-6055.
