Third graders support Operation Hope shelter

BONSALL – Third grade students in Mrs. Edward’s class at Bonsall Elementary School spent Dec. 21, the last day before winter break, putting together care packages for Operation Hope, a shelter for needy families in Vista.

Students spent several weeks collecting items for the care packages and received a generous donation of toothbrushes, floss, and toothpaste from Dr. Clayton Cooke’s office. The packages also included reusable water bottles, granola bars, Kleenex, lotion, hand-wipes, gum, combs, and lip balm.

After the students were done packaging the care bags, Russell Blackwood, director of operations for the Operation Hope shelter came and spoke to the students about his facility, answered their questions, and thanked them for making the care packages.
