Car club helps 'strike up the band'

FALLBROOK – To assist the Fallbrook High School band in getting off to a good start in 2013, the Fallbrook Vintage Car Club presented a much needed donation to the Fallbrook Band Boosters.

The parent-managed Fallbrook Band Boosters organization is responsible for raising the majority of the funds to run the band program. It was stated that the annual budget for operating the band is about $70,000 per year, but reportedly the school is only able to cover a small percentage of that cost.

The Marching Warriors Band, under the leadership and direction of Victor Torres, has been rebuilt from a diminishing program to one to be reckoned with throughout the Southern California region. This past season, the band enjoyed a 30 percent increase in enrollment; has won six out of seven field tournaments; and placed fifth in SCSBOA championships against the top twelve 1A bands in Southern California.

Contributions to the non-profit Fallbrook Band Boosters can be sent to P.O. Box 1604, Fallbrook, CA 92088 or donate online at http://www.fallbrookhsband.org.
