Dorothy (Dottie) Parker

Dorothy (Dottie) Parker was born March 6, 1932 in Carlinville, Ill. Her family moved and she was raised in Denver, Colo., where she attended grade school and graduated from East High School. She then attended Colorado A & M College now known as the University of Northern Colorado and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta.

She married Harry C. Parker and they and her three children (LuAnn, Elizabeth “Buffie,” and Donald “Chip”) all moved to Fallbrook in July 1964.

She was involved and helped bring many charitable organizations to the area: Children’s Home Society, founder and first president of Fallbrook Angel Society (Angel Shop), National Charity League founding member, PEO Chapter WM Fallbrook founding member, Arts in the Park and a Channel 10 Leadership Award recipient.

Dottie passed the evening of Jan. 19, 2013 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. A small service was held at Zion Lutheran Church on Jan. 23 for family and a few close friends.

She is survived by her three children and grandson Derek. She will be remembered for her deep blue eyes, her infectious smile, her artistic talents and contributions to the community. She will be missed by her family and loved by all.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association San Diego Chapter.
