World of Watercolor Show runs through March 17 at art center

FALLBROOK – On Saturday evening, Feb. 2, an opening reception was held at Fallbrook Art Center for its fourth annual signature World of Watercolor Show.

The World of Watercolor Show is the only of its kind in the U.S., open only to artists who have achieved Signature Membership status in one or more recognized watercolor/watermedia societies in the nation, making it truly a showing of “the best of the best” artists working in watermedia today. The show will continue through March 17 at the center.

The juror for the show, master watercolorist Cheng-Khee Chee, AWS, NWS, TWSA, selected 93 paintings from the over 300 submitted for the exhibition and sale. The artists hail from across the U.S. as well as Singapore and Uruguay.

San Diego County artists whose work was selected for the show include: Sandra Bray, Virginia Cole, Pat Dispenziere, Ken Goldman, Richard Hawk, Marie Huggin, Lola Juris, Carol Wilson Mansfield, Chuck McPherson, James Millard, Charles Rouse, Keiko Tanabe, Carol Thomason, and Bonnie Woods.

The Fallbrook Art Center is sporting a new, more sophisticated look these days after the installation of new LED lighting, carpet tiles, a new HVAC system, ceiling fans for energy efficiency, and more. The improvements were made possible by grants from the County of San Diego. Fifth District Supervisor Bill Horn supported the endeavor.

The reception Feb. 2 was part of a night of the arts that also included open viewing of works at Brandon Gallery, Pinell Gallery, and Brazen Arts. Main Avenue was busy with the foot traffic of participants who visited the various locations and dined at area restaurants.
