FALLBROOK - At its January 2013 board of directors meeting, the Angel Society of Fallbrook approved donations totaling $8,850 to various local community projects

•FALLBROOK LAND CONSERVANCY: Funds are needed to plan and begin implementation of a 30-mile external loop trail with interconnecting internal trails providing access to parks and preserves (the Walkabout Web). They need to print maps and brochures, create signage, install fences and gates where necessary. Professional services of a surveyor may be required and there may be paths to be cleared. They also need funds to maintain all the preserves. $5,000 was awarded to help fund the Walkabout Web and to maintain the preserves.

•CAST: This organization operates an after school acting program free for students. It has been so successful that they are extending the program to five schools. They perform six productions for the public and their schools. $1,500 was awarded to help with expenses.

•POTTER JR. HIGH BAND/GLEE CLUB: Students are auditioning and both groups will have prepared three festival music pieces for the Magic Music Festival sponsored by Disneyland . $1,000 was awarded to both groups to help with transportation costs.

•KOPA: Fallbrook Union High School was awarded $500 to help continue the production of their student-run award-winning literary magazine.

•OPERATION CLEAR VISION: With each year, they are providing more free glasses to military spouses and children. In 2012 they provided 350 pairs of glasses. $500 was awarded to help this worthy project.

•HEAD START: So the children will have a comfortable place to read books, $350 was awarded them to purchase an outdoor patio swing.

The Angel Society of Fallbrook raises funds for worthy causes from the proceeds it makes from sales at its all-volunteer run thrift shop, The Angel Shop, 1002 So. Main Ave. For more information, visit www.theangelsociety.org.
