Animal sanctuary is the new organizer for Paws in the Park

FALLBROOK – The Foundation for Senior Care is pleased to announce the annual Ruth Redmann Paws in the Park Dog Fair continues in its eighth year better than ever as it transitions to a wonderful new event organizer, Fallbrook Animal Sanctuary. This year’s Paws in the Park fundraiser will be held Saturday, April 20 at Live Oak Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Paws in the Park Dog Fair was the idea of Ruth Redmann, former member of the board of directors of the Foundation for Senior Care. The inaugural Paws in the Park took place in April 2006. The event was dedicated to Redmann at the second annual event in April 2007; Redmann passed away in April 2008.

After last year’s dog show, the foundation’s board of directors felt that the confusion over the foundation as organizers of the Paws in the Park event was not instrumental in helping to promote its mission to serve seniors and the disabled in the community. Often times, attendees were not aware of whom the event organizer was and the connection between the dog fair and the foundation seemed unclear.

As a result, the idea of partnering Paws in the Park with the Fallbrook Animal Sanctuary (FAS) seemed like the perfect fit and eventually, Dotty Metcalf, executive director at the foundation, approached FAS board of directors about the idea. They were excited and agreed to become the new event organizers.

The foundation is working closely with the sanctuary’s Paws in the Park committee members to ensure a seamless transition for this year’s event. The sanctuary is seeking sponsors, vendors and participants for this year’s Paws in the Park.
