Man arrested on five felony counts relating to firearms, marijuana after vehicle stop on South Mission Rd.

A 28-year-old Fallbrook man was arrested February 14 following a traffic stop made by law enforcement officers on South Mission Road.

Shawn Michael Barker, 28, of Fallbrook, was pulled over in the 1500 block of South Mission Road at approximately 4 p.m. and arrested by officers with the Sheriff's Narcotics Task Force after they found loaded firearms and marijuana in his vehicle. Local deputies assisted at the scene.

"The vehicle stop was related to an investigation that the task force was working on and we were covering their detectives on the stop," said Lt. Todd Richardson, commander of the Fallbrook Sheriff's substation.

The initial charges levied against Barker reflect five felony counts:

*Carrying a concealed weapon in vehicle w/priors

*Possession of an assault weapon

*Possession/transport of a machine gun

*Possession of marijuana for sale

*Plant/etc. marijuana

Barker was transported to the Vista Jail by Sheriff's deputies and is being held on $500,000 bail.

Traffic on South Mission was delayed for a short time as officers took Barker into custody.
