Major security exercise at Fallbrook Naval Weapons Station from February 25 to March 1; increased traffic possible

FALLBROOK - Personnel from Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach Detachment Fallbrook (also known as the Fallbrook Naval Weapons Station) will be taking part in a series of Navy security exercises from February 25 through March 1.

Exercise Citadel Shield 2013 will be conducted on naval bases and installations throughout the continental United States.

Measures will be taken to avoid disruptions to normal station operations, but there may be times when the exercise causes increased traffic around bases or delays in base access. Area residents may also see increased security activity associated with the exercise.

Citadel Shield 2013 is not in response to any specific threat but is a regularly-scheduled exercise, developed to enhance the training and readiness of Navy security personnel to respond to threats to installations and units.

For the latest information on current access restrictions to the base, the 24-hour command status line can be reached at (562) 626-6000
