Free seminar focuses on synthetic drugs

FALLBROOK – The Fallbrook Citizens’ Crime Prevention Committee will sponsor a free public crime prevention seminar on synthetic drugs, Wednesday, March 20 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Fallbrook Library Community Room, 124 South Mission Road.

The guest speaker will be Drug Enforcement Administration’s Special Agent Danielle Claude. Her presentation, titled “Synthetic Drugs: America’s New Threat,” will encompass the latest wave of damaging drugs. Agent Claude will discuss the emergence of current synthetic drugs, their origins, effects, price, and marketing.

Agent Claude will help participants identify these substances and disclose the challenges faced by law enforcement, health care professionals, and the public in combating the problem. Some of the biggest obstacles for the public to overcome are the lack of awareness and denial that these drugs are being misused by residents of all ages. This abuse has damaging effects to the entire community. Legislative efforts to ban these substances will be discussed. For additional information, call (760) 731-9127.
