Bonsall high school program moves forward

BONSALL – In the fall of 2014, the current Bonsall Union School District will educate its first high school students. The district will no longer be a K-8 school district; it will be a new, yet-to-be-named unified district. With the unification process completed, the real work is about to begin.

The district plans to phase in a high school program over a four-year period, beginning with grade 9 in the fall of 2014, and ultimately enrolling approximately 500 additional students.

The current plan is for an academy-style high school, which will be initially located on the Sullivan Middle School campus.

County Superintendent Dr. Randolph Ward will kick off the next phase of activities this month when he appoints an interim governing board and announces the unified district’s first board meeting on March 14.
