Marching Warriors to play at Padres game on April 10

Fallbrook High School’s Marching Warriors Band has been invited to play the National Anthem at Petco Park and throw out the first pitch on Wednesday, April 10 at 7 p.m. when the San Diego Padres play the Los Angeles Dodgers. They have also been gifted with 400 tickets to the game to use as a fundraiser for the band.

Warrior Band Boosters representative Sally Montiano said the prestigious invitation came after the Warriors highly successful winning season only one year after the program “nearly vanished from the school’s curriculum.”

“We are ecstatic to have this experience offered to our high school band students,” said booster club treasurer John Lewis. “This is a great honor for the kids and also a unique fundraiser.”

“Our goal is to sell 400 tickets and the money raised will go towards repairing and replacing our aging instrument inventory,” said Lewis. “Imagine the impact at the game - having 400 people from Fallbrook cheering for our school’s Marching Warriors in Petco Park!”

In its most recent season, Montiano said the Marching Warriors won six first place trophies and qualified for the SCSBOA and the WBA championships.

“All this with a band that was half freshman with zero previous marching experience and a new band director, Mr. Victor Torres,” said Montiano.

Game and “first pitch” raffle tickets sold through the Fallbrook Band Boosters will help raise much-needed funds for the program, Montiano said.

“Thanks to the Padres’ student outreach, these deserving students will have the opportunity to show their stuff and fundraise while they are at it,” said Montiano.

“In conjunction with our continued efforts to make a meaningful and enduring impact on the local youth, we are privileged to share Petco Park with San Diego’s most talented students,” said Chelsea Dill, hospitality, San Diego Padres. “We are excited about having the Marching Warriors Band perform here at Petco Park. I hope this becomes something your entire school can rally behind, even the community.”

Tickets for the April 10 must be purchased through the Warrior Band Boosters in order to benefit the students. Game tickets are $25 ($10 off the regular price). Seats are located in the lower section of right field. “First pitch” raffle tickets are $5 a chance.

“All of Fallbrook is invited to the game; we hope everyone will bring their family and friends, enjoy the game, and support our youth,” said Montiano.
