FUESD reinstates assistant principal positions

The Fallbrook Union Elementary School District (FUESD) board of trustees recently made a unanimous decision to reinstate four elementary assistant principal positions for the 2013-2014 school year.

These positions will replace the current lead teacher positions at Fallbrook Street, La Paloma, Live Oak, and William H. Frazier schools.

The decision to approve the change in position was approved at the March 18 board meeting, and the hiring of the employees was approved at the April 14 board meeting.

According to assistant superintendent Dennis Bixler, the FUESD governing board approved the reinstatement of the positions of elementary school assistant principals in March.

“These positions had been eliminated as part of the district’s budget reduction measures taken over the past several years,” said Bixler, who also stated that the reinstatement of these positions would provide for increased support and supervision of teachers, students, and support staff.

At the board meeting, the governing board finalized the decision by approving the hiring of Nancy Foster, Emily Just, Stephenie Blinco-Martinez, and Inelda Luna as assistant principals.

“Both Mrs. Foster and Mrs. Blinco-Martinez previously served as assistant principals in the district prior to the elimination of these positions,” said Bixler.

Bixler believes that the decision will lead the district into the upcoming school year with strong leadership.

“We are very pleased to be able to provide schools with enthusiastic and excellent leadership,” he said.
