GATE students dissect cow's eye; participate in mock trial

FALLBROOK – Fallbrook Street School’s GATE program has been offering enriching after-school activities for qualified students in third through sixth grade.

The students recently had an opportunity to dissect a pig’s heart to learn more about the anatomy and functions of the heart. A veterinarian and two doctors assisted with this activity to help students identify the parts of a heart.

The students also had the opportunity to learn about the anatomy of an eye. Each student was given a cow’s eye that they were able to examine and dissect.

The GATE students also went on a field trip to the Vista Superior Court to participate in a mock trial. The students were all assigned roles in the case, all vital. A real judge presided over the “trial.”
