Rainbow Girls to offer spaghetti lunch for 'Salute to Firefighters' event

FALLBROOK – The Fallbrook Rainbow Girls will host a spaghetti lunch on Saturday, July 20 at the Masonic Lodge, 203 Rocky Crest Road, from 12:30 to 3 p.m. to coincide with the Fallbrook Historical Society’s ‘Salute to Firefighters,’ being held just up the street from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The lunch will include spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, dessert, and drinks. Tickets for the lunch are $10/adults and $5/children under 12 and can be purchased at the Masonic Lodge or at the historical society on the day of the event.

Event-goers can enjoy the delicious spaghetti lunch in tandem with attending the ‘Salute to Firefighters’ at the historical society museum grounds, 1730 Hill Street, (Rocky Crest Road and Hill Street).

The firefighter event will include a display of antique fire trucks from throughout the county and feature Fallbrook’s own “Alfie” and a unique 1902 American Steam Fire Engine.

Opening ceremony for the ‘Salute to Firefighters’ is scheduled for noon and begins with the San Diego County Firefighters Pipes and Drums and the Camp Pendleton Fire Department Honor Guard.

The program will include a brief slide presentation entitled “The History of Firefighting in Fallbrook,” remarks from current North County Fire Protection District Fire Chief William Metcalf, and the ‘Salute to Firefighters’ – the community’s expression of gratitude to its firefighters – past and present - for their service and their commitment to our safety and well-being.

The Fallbrook Rainbow Girls have long been participants in the society’s events and have played a key role in welcoming guests and serving refreshments. The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls is a Masonic youth service organization which teaches leadership skills and public speaking. It builds self-respect, confidence, poise, patriotism, fidelity, integrity and character, all the while providing a fun and safe environment for girls to meet other girls their age and to build friendships that will last a lifetime.
