Sheriff's Dept. warns of imposter

FALLBROOK – Sheriff’s Dept. crime prevention specialist John McLelland said residents should be aware of individuals going door-to-door posing as imposters to see what valuables might be in a home.

“A gentleman called the Fallbrook Sheriff’s substation and reported that a man came to his door Monday, June 17 at about 7:30 p.m. posing as a representative from the water district and asked for entrance to the home to check for leaks,” said McLelland. “The homeowner refused to comply and called the water district office the next day. They told him that no one from the water company would be sent out that time of day.” The incident took place in the 700 block of De Luz Road.

The homeowner described the suspect as a Hispanic male adult, approximately 5’7’’ tall, 175 lbs. and between 38 and 40 years old. The suspect spoke both English and Spanish.

Anyone who encounters an individual conducting himself in this manner should report it to the Sheriff’s Dept. by calling (760) 728-1113.
