Organizers announce free workshops for Scarecrow Days

FALLBROOK – Happy Scarecrow organizers are working and planning now for the 2013 Fallbrook Scarecrow Days. Making heads and bodies for the basics of their contribution to the October event was the main effort for a day of heady fun last week.

Workshops for help and instruction on some basics for scarecrow building will be held Aug. 14, 15, 16, 28, 29, and 30; and on Sept. 11, 12, 13, 25, 26, 27. All sessions run from 9 a.m. to noon.

Local residents are encouraged to formulate ideas and attend a workshop (or more) to get some help in constructing a scarecrow of choice that will be sturdy and ready for the month-long display by Oct. 1.

To sign up for a workshop date, call the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce office at (760)

728-5845.

Scarecrow Days include the Fallbrook Fall Faire, which will be held on Main Ave. It will feature Fallbrook’s agricultural roots, crafts, and all things local on kick-off weekend Oct. 6.

The annual Fall Festival of Gems, staged by the Fallbrook Gem & Mineral Society, will partner with the Faire.
