Football season starts with Pep Rally Aug. 3 and Lift-a-thon Aug. 9

FALLBROOK – In August, Fallbrook High football players are not only going to be working hard to get themselves ready to play football, they will also be prepping the community by kicking off the season with a Fallbrook Football Community Pep Rally on Aug. 3 and a Lift-a-thon on Aug. 9.

The annual Pep Rally will be held in the Major Market parking lot (Main at Fallbrook St.) from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. All varsity and JV players will be present along with the cheerleaders and marching band.

The United States Marine Corps will be present to coordinate a pull-up contest; the Sheriff’s Department will feature a K9 demo as well as SWAT demos. There will be games and face-painting for kids as well. And of course, there will be hamburgers and hot dogs for all who attend. The boosters are also proposing a dunk tank and jump house to round out the fun for the whole family.

The 17th annual Fallbrook Football Lift-a-thon will be held in the high school gym on Aug. 9 and the community is encouraged to attend to support their favorite players as they attempt to bench press their goal weights. Players will be collecting pledges on a per pound basis or a flat rate for two weeks prior to the event.

The Fallbrook Football Boosters have invited the cheer squad to participate in this event and they will be providing a BBQ chicken plate dinner from 5 to 6 p.m. prior to the start of the program at 6 p.m. The cheer team and the Warrior Marching Band will enliven the proceedings as well.

This off-season has been different than in the recent past and harkens back to the glory days of Fallbrook football. Coach William’s philosophy is that Fallbrook will have the “hardest-hitting, strongest team on the field at every game they play this season.” To that end, the weight-lifting program has been intensified since his ascension to head coach in February and will continue daily throughout the entire calendar year making this year’s Lift-a-thon a “not to be missed” event.

The Fallbrook Football Boosters and the entire football program enthusiastically invite the entire community to come support the players at both events. For more information or how to sponsor a player at the Lift-a-thon, call booster president Rudi Rudisell at (760) 500-2207 or Lift-a-thon coordinator Gregg Whitesell at (760) 670-9991.
