Schoenheit named boys tennis team MVP

The Fallbrook High School boys tennis team was appreciative of Fred and Candy Schoenheit letting the tennis team use the Schoenheit home for the Warriors’ post-season awards banquet May 31. The Warriors’ tennis team was also appreciative of the Schoenheits’ son, as Scott Schoenheit was named the team’s Most Valuable Player at the banquet.

“I just thought he was very valuable,” said Fallbrook coach Bill Lenaway.

Schoenheit, who will be attending the University of Northern Arizona when the 2013-14 academic year begins, had a 25-5 record in league sets during his senior year. Schoenheit was on the Warriors’ varsity for four years. “He was a good teammate,” Lenaway said.

Cesar Loera, who began playing tennis as a junior in 2012, was selected as Fallbrook’s Most Improved for the 2013 season. “He’s a good athlete, great attitude, worked at it,” Lenaway said.

Loera will attend Brown University on an academic scholarship.

The team’s Sportsmanship Award went to senior Peter Dunckel. “He exemplified it for us,” Lenaway said.

Dunckel will be attending Cal Baptist University. “I was very proud that all our seniors are moving on to four-year universities,” Lenaway said.

The 2013 Warriors had five seniors.
