Help needed to honor military women

What is it like to be a “military woman?” Well, for active enlisted women, it takes courage, a strong support system at home, emotional and physical strength and intelligence, and a will to protect her country from harm.

For military wives of deployed Marines, it takes the same characteristics, and support from the communities that surround them. It is a tough calling, and all of these women deserve to be recognized for their contribution to all Americans!

On Oct. 12, Fallbrook Women’s Connection, a chapter of Stonecroft Ministries, will participate in hosting a “Heart Event” to honor these women at the Officer’s Club on Camp Pendleton. This free extravaganza will include a delicious lunch, live professional music, a keynote speaker, door prizes, break-out sessions to soothe their minds, bodies and souls, and individual gifts for all women attending. All active and retired military women and active military wives are invited to attend. They can make reservations by calling (714) 319-7369.

Their children will be cared for by childcare professionals, given a fun kid’s lunch, games and prizes. The cost of this care could run $3,500 or more.

We are seeking donations to help cover the costs of this event. Checks made out to Stonecroft Ministries may be mailed to Mary Young, Stonecroft Military Liaison, 1304 Bellingham, Oceanside, CA 92057. For more information, call Katie Clemens at (951) 506-0845.
