Learn how release of inmates could impact public safety locally

FALLBROOK – Local residents will have a free opportunity to hear about how the release of inmates could impact public safety at an upcoming meeting sponsored by the Fallbrook Citizens Crime Prevention Committee.

On Wed., Sept. 25, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Mack Jenkins, chief probation officer for the San Diego county Probation Dept. will provide an update on AB109/Public Safety Realignment. Jenkins will explain how the recent court order, mandating the release of 800 inmates from state prisons by December 31 could impact public safety in this area. He will discuss the strategies and plans that will be used by the county to handle this difficult situation. An additional 9,600 inmates will be released statewide.

The meeting will take place at Fallbrook Library, community room, 124 S. Mission Rd. For more information about the meeting, contact Pat Braendel at (760) 731-9127.
