Varsity tennis falls just short of Rancho Buena Vista

FALLBROOK – The girls varsity tennis team lost a close match on Sept. 24 at home against RBV, 8 sets to 10. In singles action, standout senior Skyler Schaar easily won all three of her sets, 6-1, 6-0 and 6-2. Maddie Young and Lauren Bashara were the other two starting singles players, but were unable to win a set despite some very close games.

In doubles, Rebecca Dupont and Raquelle Rogers dominated with three match wins, 6-1, 6-2 and 6-2. Tori Sullivan and Joellen Banks won two sets, 6-1, 7-6, while losing one. Colleen Murphy teamed up with two different partners, Celine Keshavarzi and Jaylene Romero, falling 3-6, 4-6 and 2-6.

The teams will play again on Oct. 10 at RBV. Coach Dave Ramirez said, “This was a close match that could have gone either way. I think our girls are looking forward to playing them again and hopefully coming out on top next time.”
