Intimate Classics return with dinner and a show option

ESCONDIDO – Vaulting off a successful debut last year, the California Center for the Arts, Escondido (the Center) will feature another lineup of stellar musicians in its Intimate Classics series. And this season, attendees can complete their theater experience with a pre-performance dinner.

Celebrating the raw beauty and power of music, the Intimate Classics series offers locals the chance to experience chamber music expertly performed in the up-close-and-personal setting of the Center Theater. Musicians of every discipline – from voice to cello to the more adventurous saxophone – sojourn in Escondido.

Soprano Priti Gandhi will open the five-concert series on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. A native of Mumbai, India, she will present a heartfelt performance based on her life as an immigrant. She will be accompanied by San Diego Opera’s Nick Reveles, the company’s Geisel Director of Education and Outreach.

Sure to appeal to those who love food as much as the arts, concert-goers will now be able to get dinner and a show. The Center is pleased to introduce wine-pairing dinners to accompany its exciting Intimate Classics series.

Before the night’s artist takes the stage, guests will be treated to a gourmet meal prepared by the Center’s award-winning executive chef, Karla Castaneda, and thoughtfully paired with the juice of a local winery. Breweries may also be featured later in the season.

The first pre-performance dinner on Oct. 12 will feature the California-grown fruit of the award-winning J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines. Using a rich and diverse palette of sustainably-farmed estate fruit, J. Lohr crafts wines showcasing bold, concentrated flavors and a vibrant sense of place.

The Center is located at 340 N. Escondido Blvd. in Escondido. The Box Office can be reached at (800) 988-4253. Tickets can also be purchased online. To learn more, including performance dates, times and ticket information, visit http://www.artcenter.org.
