Brush fire between Alturas and Aviation Roads quickly extinguished with multi-agency help

With the help of multiple agencies, a brush fire that erupted just before 11:30 a.m. today (Wed., Nov. 13), in Fallbrook was extinguished by 12:45 p.m.

The fire, which consumed about 1-1/2 acres, started in a wooded area surrounded by bare land with dry weeds. The parcel is located between Aviation and Alturas Roads, and surrounded by commercial buildings and apartment communities.

"One outbuilding on the property sustained some minor damage," said John Buchanan, public information officer for North County fire. "At this time, the fire is out, clean up is underway and both fire and Sheriff's investigators are looking into the cause."

Business owners in the area said the land involved in the fire is known to be frequented by transients. "The property owner is aware of that; he has been told," one business owner said.

With North County Fire, Camp Pendleton Fire, Cal Fire, and Oceanside Fire working together on it, the blaze was handled quickly.

No injuries were reported.
