National Charity League adopts a family for Christmas

FALLBROOK – The National Charity League (NCL) Class of 2016 teamed up with the Fallbrook Food Pantry to adopt a family in need of a little extra help this time of year.

The sophomores broke up into teams and with an NCL mom for guidance, navigated Albertson’s grocery store, list in hand, and shopped for the best deals, comparing prices while at the same time providing a greatly needed Christmas holiday meal for their adopted family.

The girls also provided Christmas gifts for the family and had a party, coming together to share their family’s traditions while wrapping gifts and making gingerbread houses for fun.

“The delivery is the most special part of the process,” said NCL grade level advisor Paulette Britton. “The family was extremely grateful for the gifts under the tree, but mostly for the 10 bags of groceries that will get them through the end of the year.”

For more than 50 years, the nonprofit, National Charity League, Inc. has thrived as one of the nation’s most distinctive and well-respected mother-daughter membership organizations. Annually, NCL members volunteer approximately one million hands-on hours in local communities.
