Newcomer and Encore Clubs enjoy holiday season

FALLBROOK – The sister social organizations Newcomer and Encore clubs outdid themselves this season. Each club gathered for a special holiday luncheon where the dining tables were beautifully decorated by individual members to show a lovely array of holiday themes. These included Hanukkah and a Chinese holiday in addition to traditional Christmas decor. They were truly beautiful!

Newcomers and their guests held their luncheon at the Fallbrook United Methodist Church where club members provided all of the buffet dishes from their own kitchens! This is a tradition and quite an accomplishment. The resulting buffet is always delicious, with lots of laughter and fun ahead of time in pulling it all together.

The Encore Club luncheon was held at the Golf Club of California where the guests could just sit back and enjoy the excellent menu offered by the club. Many members worked hard in the planning to be sure everyone had fun. Entertainment was provided at each club luncheon by the girls’ vocal group “Starlighters,” which included girls from age 10 to 16 singing Christmas songs and setting a joyful tone for the season.

The grand finale for the season was an elegant Holiday Gala Dinner and Dance, held in the evening of Dec. 12 at the beautiful Golf Club of California. Traditionally each year this event is enjoyed jointly, with each club alternating in the planning. The Newcomers Club did a wonderful job this year in providing a special evening for everyone that attended. Many enjoyed the dancing and others loved watching the surprising talents of their friends. Music, fine food and friendly faces are wonderful parts of the holiday season.

All of these events reflected the fun, friendships and festivities for which these social clubs are known. The clubs draw from the Fallbrook, Bonsall and Rainbow communities. Most members first join Newcomers as they move to the area, where they may remain for three years before “flying up” to Encore Club if they choose.

Numerous and varied activities are available within each organization. New members are welcomed at any time and can and do remain in Encore Club for years and years to come. Anyone interested in a visit or joining the Newcomers Club can call Judy, membership chairman, at (760) 560-3777; to visit or join the Encore Club, contact membership chair Chris Davis at (760)
