Boy Scout Troop 739 holds annual event; announces plans for new year

FALLBROOK – Zion Lutheran Church’s Boy Scouts of America Troop 739 held its Court of Honor and Christmas party on Dec. 16 at Zion Church’s Fellowship Hall. The Scouts provided the main course meal prepared through their cooking merit badge to over 90 scouts and family members.

The troop announced it had increased its membership to over 35 scouts, along with several new adult volunteer leaders. The troop also reported that the newly organized BSA Venture Crew 796, for 14 to 20 year old boys and girls, has 12 members through it sponsorship with the Fallbrook Historical Society and is actively planning for the upcoming year.

Troop 739’s 2014 activities schedule was announced which includes a Snowboard/Ski day in January, a February Klondike (snow weekend) in Idyllwild, Scouting For Food and a desert campout in March, a Colorado river rafting trip in April, the annual District Camporee in May, a Silverwood Lake boating trip in June, BSA summer camp for the scouts, and a 12-day trip for the Venture Crew in July. Additionally, several merit badge classes have been scheduled and several other activities are planned during the year.
