Vista: Driver injures passenger after losing control of vehicle

The driver of a Saturn sedan lost control of it and crossed into oncoming traffic on a Vista roadway, and the collision with an oncoming pickup truck injuring her and her passenger, a sheriff's deputy said today.

The westbound Saturn was driven by a 22-year-old woman, and it hit the pickup truck at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, said sheriff's Deputy Frank Stalzer. The crash was in the eastbound lanes of the 1700 block of Hacienda Street, just

east of Emerald Drive.

The sedan sustained major damage and the Dodge pickup truck's front end was damaged, the deputy said.

The Saturn's driver was taken to Tri-City Medical Center to be treated for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, Stalzer said.

Her 28-year-old passenger was taken to Palomar Medical Center to have his injuries evaluated, he said.

Neither the pickup truck's driver or its occupants sustained significant injuries, Stalzer said.
