Fire danger higher than normal with pairing of dry weather, Santa Ana winds

A Red Flag warning -- used as a way of notifying the public and different agencies of the increased risk for fire -- is in effect for most of Southern California from Sunday through Tuesday, as warmer temperatures and gusty Santa Ana Winds could result in higher incidences of brush fires and similar problems, according to a National Weather Service report.

The warning is in effect throughout most of Southern California, from Orange County's coastal areas to the Inland Empire and parts of San Diego.

A high pressure system moving along the coast is expected to account for the warmer and dryer temperatures.

Winds and gusts are expected to be at their highest levels on Sunday at 25-35 mph for winds and up to 70 mph for gusts, according to the NWS.
