Corwin wins Best of Show award in Art of the Portrait exhibition

FALLBROOK – Renee Corwin, a well-known portrait artist from San Diego, won Best of Show in Brandon Gallery’s Art of the Portrait competition.

Corwin, who herself has judged numerous portrait competitions in the area and is president of the San Diego Portrait Society, won with “Rose in One of Her Hats.” Other winners include Janice Cipriani-Willis who took first place with “One Per Day.” Chick Curtis, Elizabeth Taft, Richard Stergulz, Gaspar Vacarro and Martha Cowan also won awards in Brandon’s second portrait show.

According to Noreen Ring, who curated the juried exhibition, the judge was Michael Steirnagle, an art instructor at Palomar College. More than 80 entries were received from artists in the San Diego, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties.

Art of the Portrait is on display in the main gallery through the end of May.
