Carlsbad, San Marcos fires cause 350 evacuees to stay overnight in emergency shelters

NORTH COUNTY - Overnight, almost 350 evacuees stayed at three shelters, including a total of 100 people at two shelters in Carlsbad and 241 people at a shelter in San Marcos.

According to census data, a total of 125,000 people reside in the areas contacted through Alert San Diego, the region’s mass notification system. And the County’s emergency website, sdcountyemergency.com, has gotten more than one million hits over the last three days.

Resources are available to all residents who may need recovery information through the County’s recovery website at sdcountyrecovery.com.

More than 2,200 customers were without power, according to the San Diego Gas & Electric website. For the latest information on outages, check SDG&E’s outage map.

Residents are urged to call 2-1-1 for all non-emergency calls.
