Kaiser and Palomar Medical Center services limited today

SAN MARCOS - Services at some North County hospitals will be limited today because of the facilities' proximity to a fire that has burned about 700 acres south of state Route 78 in San Marcos and damaged or destroyed several buildings.

Kaiser Permanente's San Marcos Medical Offices, 400 Craven Road, is scheduled to be closed until this afternoon. Officials with the facility said representatives would contact those with appointments to reschedule.

Kaiser Permanente members can get updates on closures, appointments and schedules by calling (619) 662-5656.

All elective surgeries today at Palomar Medical Center, 2185 Citracado Parkway in Escondido, were cancelled although the facility's hospital and emergency room are scheduled to remain in operation, according to hospital officials. Inpatient surgeries will continue as scheduled, or as needed.

Elective surgeries were also cancelled at the Palomar Health Downtown Campus at 555 East Valley Parkway in Escondido. Hospital officials said all emergency services would remain operational and inpatient surgeries would also continue as scheduled, or as needed.

All hospital and emergency services were fully operational at Pomerado Hospital at 15615 Pomerado Road in Poway.
