Music society launches new season July 23 with patriotic concert

FALLBROOK – The Fallbrook Music Society will launch its 37th season on Wednesday, July 23, with a patriotic community concert featuring the renowned Marine Corps 3rd Wing Aircraft Concert Band, MCAS Miramar at Pala Mesa Resort.

In honor of members of the military, past and present, their families, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice for America, more than 2,000 free tickets for this concert will be made available at Camp Pendleton and Miramar and at several locations in Fallbrook.

“Fallbrook Music Society’s board of directors took this bold step to provide free tickets to this summer ‘happening’ for our active military members, their families, and also for our community’s residents,” said Ann Murray, executive director of Fallbrook Music Society. “We are encouraging our traditional summer concert patrons, and all members of the Fallbrook community, to strongly support this effort by becoming a concert sponsor and purchasing a reserved table – with the proceeds helping to underwrite the costs to produce this event.”

The Third Marine Aircraft Wing Band was established for service during WWII, and has deployed numerous times throughout its history. All members of the band are combat-trained Marines.

In addition to the MCAS Concert Band with a broad range of rousing patriotic music, the program includes the Cameron Highlanders Pipe Band of San Diego County, which is now the oldest continually performing bagpipe band in California, and one of the oldest in the United States. The concert will begin with a color guard presentation by members of Fallbrook’s own Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1924.

Gates open at 5:30 p.m., with the concert beginning at 7.

Patrons can choose to bring their own picnic dinners, or pre-order a picnic dinner from Pala Mesa Resort ($15/person) which includes: a chicken pesto wrap, potato salad, a bottle of water and dessert. Bottles of wine will also be available for purchase.

For ticket options including reserved tables with extra benefits, call (760) 451-8644. General admission guests are encouraged to bring blankets and low-backed chairs for lawn seating.

Pala Mesa Resort is located at 2001 Old Highway 395, Fallbrook.
