Palomar Health receives four patient safety awards

ESCONDIDOThe largest hospital liability insurer on the West Coast has recognized Palomar Health for delivering safe and reliable patient care and eliminating preventable harm.

BETA Healthcare group presented Palomar Medical Center Escondido and Palomar Medical Center Poway with four safety awards for meeting or exceeding their rigorous standards, emphasizing patient safety, reliability of care and reducing risk exposure in the areas of obstetrics and emergency medicine.

“The awards from BETA Healthcare group represent our continuing commitment to putting our patient’s first in providing the safest, highest quality care possible to our community,” Dr. Alan Conrad, Palomar Health executive vice president of physician alignment.

This was the seventh consecutive year the perinatal team at Palomar Medical Center Poway was honored by BETA for “making an impact in the lives of moms and babies by implementing strategies focused on Nulliparous Cesarean Section,” which are for first-time pregnancies. The Emergency Department has also been awarded seven years running for its commitment to constant improvement and meeting BETA’s strict requirements for “Quest for Zero,” a campaign to eliminate patient harm.

Palomar Medical Center Escondido’s perinatal team has achieved BETA’s safety award six consecutive years and the Emergency Department have received it for four consecutive years.
