Pat Braendel remembered with donation to meals program

FALLBROOK – On Dec. 13, a group gathered at the Fallbrook Senior Center to honor the memory of Pat Braendel by adding engraved bricks to the patio through the Stepping Stones program.

Braendel, founder and president of Fallbrook Citizens Crime Prevention Committee (FCCPC) and GANAS (Guide Advise Nurture And Support) Mentor Group was passionate about the Fallbrook community and its children. FCCPC was founded in 2003; GANAS was added at a later time as Braendel saw the need in the community to invest in the lives of the youth.

Her husband, Dick Braendel, was a significant support to Pat as was their son, Bob Braendel. Pat died unexpectedly in February of 2017. In December, her husband and son wanted to remember Pat with the purchase of bricks that help support the Home Delivered Meals program to homebound seniors.

According to senior center special programs manager Phyllis Sweeney, "Pat had a tender compassionate heart for our home bound seniors. She thought that by encouraging the children to make cards for seniors this would teach the children care and concern for seniors a two part harmony."

The children in the GANAS mentor groups annually made Christmas/holiday cards to be included with the home delivered meals to local seniors, so the bricks are a fitting choice to honor her memory.
